Game development is where logic and creativity meet. It's a place to bring the worlds that exist in your imagination to life.

 

NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Creative Media

Learners are required to successfully complete 1 core unit and 3

optional units.

 

  • Unit 02 Plan and produce work to a design brief (8 credits)

This will consist of creating a final game project with the majority of the art, sound and scripting assets created by the student.

 

  • Unit 06 2D game design (8 credits)

  • Unit 07 2D game production (8 credits)

  • Unit 08 Sound production for computer games (8 credits)

These units all contribute to the creation of the final game project

 

NCFE Level 1 Certificate in interactive media

 

Qualification aims

This qualification aims to:

enable learners to develop basic skills in the use of interactive media and the underpinning

knowledge of interactive media processes

provide a basis for progression to other areas of study and, enable learners to make more informed career choices.

 

Qualification objectives

The objectives of this qualification are to enable learners to:

develop a basic understanding of health and safety relevant to interactive media

use equipment and software competently and safely.

 

Achieving this qualification

To be awarded the NCFE Level 1 Certificate in Interactive Media, learners are required to successfully complete 4 mandatory units. Learners may wish to complete any of the additional units to gain extra credits; however, these units will not contribute to the overall qualification.

 

Mandatory units

  • Unit 01 Explore interactive media products and processes 

  • Unit 02 Use computer systems in an interactive media design environment

  • Unit 03 Explore ideas and create interactive media content 

  • Unit 04 Assemble interactive media products to produce final work 

 

ICT Functional Skills

 

Functional Skills Information and Communication Technology (ICT) qualifications are designed to give learners the skills to operate confidently, effectively and independently in education, work and everyday life. They have been created in response to employers’ perceptions that many learners are not achieving a sufficiently firm grounding in the basics.

  • NCFE Level 3 Certificate in Interactive Media

  • NCFE Level 3 in IT User Skills (ITQ)

  • Level Diploma in Creative Media
