Richard Collier

Ocassional Maths Tutor

I am a qualified Maths teacher with over ten years’ experience of successfully tutoring Maths, Computing, ICT, Science and Geography to GCSE and A-level. A number of my pupils have had an autism spectrum condition, anxiety and/or attention deficit issues.

I left school at 18 and worked in ICT/Computing related roles for engineering and financial organisations until I was 28, when I went to Roehampton University to study Geography and Environmental Studies. I also have qualifications in Mathematics, Statistics, Computing and Project Management. After graduating, I worked in Police IT Programme Management for ten years, before retraining as a teacher. Since qualifying, I have mainly worked as a private tutor. My previous work experience means that I have a wealth of examples of the application of Maths/ICT/Science outside of academia.

I was a Scout Leader for many years and have a keen interest in the environment, conservation, the countryside and politics. I enjoy walking with my cockapoo Rosie, playing Bridge, Cribbage, Dungeons and Dragons, Chess and boardgames in general. At school, I was stage manager for two years and am still interested in amateur dramatics (behind the scenes). I love cooking and baking, reading (Sci-Fi and crime), TV (Sci-Fi, crime and period dramas) and quizzes.
