Happiness is strawberries and dark chocolate!


This term we’ve been looking at our emotions and their physical effects on us. Some foods and activities can affect our emotions positively. For instance, this yummy combination of strawberries dipped in chocolate naturally contain endorphins and dopamine!


These ‘happy chemicals’ are known as DOSE. Here are some interesting facts about them…

Dopamine

It affects many parts of your behaviour and physical functions positively, such as:

  • Motivation

  • Heart rate

  • Blood vessel function

  • Kidney function

  • Solidifies relationships

  • Crystalises emotional memories

  • Facilitates childbirth and breast feeding

  • Boosts sexual arousal

  • Improves social skills

  • Triggers protective instincts

  • Induces sleep
